Martha Stewart shares her top Easter tips – including how to dye eggs the Japanese way

Another pandemic era holiday is approaching and Martha Stewart knows the tricks of the trade to make a small gathering safe and extra special.

The lifestyle guru sat down exclusively with DailyMailTV’s senior correspondent Alicia Quarles to distribute her sweet tips for creative treats for kids and the secret to creating jaw-dropping dyed Easter eggs.

Additionally, Martha reveals the unusual destination she is most excited to visit once the pandemic is over.

For the little Easter Sunday parties this year, Martha has concocted a bright and fun take on the tradition by turning hollow chocolate bunnies into something entirely new.

“It’s a chocolate Easter bunny,” Martha explained to Alicia. “ And I want to make it a special little gift for kids who still drink milk. ”

To turn the rabbit – which must be one of the hollows – into a drinking vessel, Martha uses gentle heat and a metal straw.

“So take a metal straw, heat the tip … not too long,” she orders. “It’s going to break through to the top. And, see how it went? Now I have a perfect hole that I can pour milk into.

“Then put on a nice straw – it’s a little pink straw – and you can just enjoy a milkshake,” said Stewart. And then, eat your rabbit too. This is so cute!’

These special tumblers are perfect for children (or adults with a sweet tooth) and since they are all individual, they can be enjoyed socially from a distance.

The April issue of Martha Stewart Living is dedicated to the Domestic Goddess’s advice on everything Easter-related, from springtime activities and delicious seasonal dishes to crafts.

This year, Martha has crossed continents – figuratively speaking – to find inspiration for Easter’s most beloved resistance piece, decorated eggs, with a technique called shibori.

“Well, it’s a Japanese technique,” ​​she explained, “and it’s on hard boiled eggs using duct tape or stickers. And it’s just a little unusual and easy to do.

For people who go the more traditional route of dipping hard-boiled eggs in an assortment of colorful dyes, the queen of crafts suggests using a simple pantry ingredient to enhance the vibrancy.

“I put a little white distilled vinegar in the water. It helps the color to be smoother on the egg, ” she said in demonstrating. “Look, you have a nice band around your egg. So simple!’

To make sure those dyed eggs and chocolate bunnies are presented artfully, Martha turns to her own Martha Stewart collection (available at Macys). Stewart took the time to show off some of his favorite items on DailyMailTV and provided inspiration for the springtime tabletop landscape.

“Look at these beautiful plates,” Martha admired. “I want a set myself, I haven’t received it yet. I have to remember to do this before they run out of these. We also have great cutlery. It’s all affordable too, because that’s what we always try to do – beauty and convenience at a good price.

For Martha personally, her Easter celebration this year will be small and intimate. After a year on lockdown, working harder than ever on her beautiful Bedford estate, Martha has recently been spending time with her grandchildren now that she is vaccinated.

Her granddaughter Jude, 10, seems to be following in her tycoon grandmother’s artisanal footsteps.

“Look at these beautiful bracelets that Jude makes,” Martha exclaimed, pointing to some homemade jewelry. “She sells them in a local cafe. She and her friend Jade.

In the coming months, Martha has said she looks forward to the pandemic restrictions being lifted so that she and grandchildren can travel again.

“I want to go to Antarctica with the kids,” she revealed. “ This will be their seventh continent that they have visited in their short lifetimes – and in my beloved Maine, I can’t wait to return to Seal Harbor.
