Here’s a new take on Seinfeld’s horror game, Sinfeld Remastered

when we first covered Chronicles of Sinfelda horror game based on Seinfeld and other comedies filmed in New York –it had already established itself as one of the most delightfully weird pop culture shows we’ve ever seen. Now with the release of a new feverish dream of a trailer for (now renamed) Sinfeld remastered, what has been shown in the past looks quite tame in comparison.

The trailer, which opens with a monologue about peeing on the beds and being scarred by the wicked streets of a post-apocalyptically miserable New York City, gives us a glimpse of protagonist Donathan, who has been recast from Jerry’s nephew to his adopted son. He walks past garbage fires and graffiti-covered walkways to Seinfeld Restaurant, New Balance sneakers splashing in puddles. As if the Akira pill jacket and Frogger machine wasn’t already a fairly odd enough match, Donathan finally turns around, revealing his haunting, grizzled babyface, and says, “You made you wait, huh?” in an ode at Metal Gear Solid.

It only gets more disorienting from there. Donathan – who, according to the video’s description, is “trapped in an endless loop of nightmares” after being abandoned “by Jerry around 3 a.m. in the Big Apple” – shares a Spider-Man kiss at the upside down in an alley, is maimed by a sewer alligator, watches an Eva unit fight a kaiju, jump in a helicopter to smash its window with his forehead, and dodge a bald giant in front of the welcoming lights of a Tim Horton. We also see him absorbing the now literal spirit of Festivus and are shown clues that Donathan may be the result of a secret scientific experiment.

In short, it all looks absolutely wild.

Creator RareBird Games described Sinfeld remastered as “an action horror comedy parody featuring various styles of play inspired by resident Evil, Silent Hills, and PTWhich is good to know, but also raises the question of how the wacky tone of the trailers will translate into the game. We’ll find out before too long. Austin Stock from RareBird tells us that Sinfeld remastered is tentatively scheduled for release in October on PlayStation 5 and PC
