The combination of the NFL will be launched in the week of Tuesday and we can say that there will be a lot of commercial discussions. Antonio Brown would like to leave Pittsburgh and Odell Beckham Jr. would be abroad in New York. When two of the best gaming receivers are on the market, there will be gossip.
Pro Football Talk offers the latest speculations on OBJ. At the beginning of the new year, they learned that the San Francisco 49ers would be interested if the Giants made it available. Things calmed down amid Brown's hubbub, and last week NFL reporter Jay Glazer predicted that OBJ would be traded for the off-season. He did not say to whom and he simply predicted rather than reported, but it made the tongues tremble.
Tonight, PFT has reported that a "persistent feeling" that the 49ers will try to make a race to OBJ. They say that choice # 2 for OBJ may be too high, but they might send it if the Giants returned a third or fourth round choice. It should be noted that PFT also suggests that the Rams may decide that another large splash is necessary, but offer no persistent meaning.
The wording of the report offers a chance for our own speculation about supply. This does not say league sources or sources close to the situation, nor anything that offers details about a source. It simply means that the "sense persists". We could look at several possibilities to know who wants this information:
- Giants: If New York is interested in the processing of OBJs, this may be the means by which the team will be able to let the 49ers (or another team) know what might be needed to reach an agreement.
- The agent of OBJ: He wants to generate some interest for the conclusion of an agreement. So he suggests to the 49ers
- 49ers: The least likely scenario in mind. I think they could just ask the Giants if this type of deal could work, but maybe it's an attempt to get New York to make the call.
If the Giants decided to trade Beckham, they would have $ 16 million in dead money this year and save $ 5 million in space. It is almost certain that any deal will take place before the NFL draft in 2019, and probably early in the first year of the league. Therefore, money after June 1 is not a factor. It's a big hit for the Giants, but if they can get a rough draft, they might decide it's worth it.
So what do you think? Could we see a deal go down? If you do not see a poll, click here.
