MIAMI – Ronald Acuna Jr. has been retained after being tackled in the Atlanta Braves’ 5-0 win over the Miami Marlins on Friday night.

Miami reliever Anthony Bender hit Acuna with a slider in the seventh. A frustrated Acuna watched and walked over to Bender before being held back by Marlins wide receiver Jorge Alfaro and home plate umpire Jordan Baker. Acuna walked over to first base, slamming his elbow protective gear to the ground.

“It’s okay,” Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said. “He hit him with a bullet that shattered. Everyone behaved well.”

The Marlins pitchers have hit Acuna seven times since the All-Star rookie triple season in 2018, including with Atlanta’s first at-bat of their game on July 2. This blow by blow resulted in the ejection of the starter from Miami. Pablo Lopez.

“Honestly, I’m really tired of the drama,” Miami manager Don Mattingly said. “I’m sure anyone who’s ever played the game has talked about it saw that it wasn’t intentional. I’m sick of it, sick of talking about it.”
