Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier promise to meet in UFC fourth fight

There will be a Round 4 between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.

After their third fight at UFC 264 on Saturday night was cut short due to McGregor’s grotesque leg injury, it was clear there was still an unfinished business between the two. It was McGregor’s second loss to Poirier in 2021 after the Irishman scored a first round knockout in their rivalry’s first fight in 2014.

“It is not finished !” McGregor screamed into the cage before being stretched out and rushing to the hospital.

Poirier also said the two “are going to fight again, whether in the Octagon or on the sidewalk.”

While taking stock of McGregor, who is now 1-3 in his last four MMA fights, UFC President Dana White said he believes a fourth fight between longtime rivals didn’t make sense.

“The fight did not end,” he said. “You can’t end a fight this way. We will see how it all unfolds. Who knows how long Conor is away? When Conor is healed and ready to go, we’ll do revenge, I guess. Poirier will do his job until Conor is ready.

McGregor had made up the trash speech throughout the week leading up to the fight, but things escalated when the fight ended with a doctor stoppage and Poirier received the technical knockout. Visibly frustrated with the end of the match, McGregor rang out on Poirier and even threatened to kill him.

“Karma is not an ab-h, it’s a mirror,” Poirier told reporters after the fight. “There are no limits with trash talk, but murder is something you don’t clown around with.

“There’s no going back to that, and this guy said he was going to kill me.” He was telling me he was going to kill me… tomorrow I’m going to leave here in a coffin. You don’t talk to people like that, man. I hope this guy returns home safe and sound to his in-laws.

When UFC commentator Joe Rogan handed the mic to McGregor, the “Notorious” said he would take Poirier outside before turning his attention to Poirier’s wife Jolie.

“Your wife is in my DMs,” McGregor said. “Hey babe, call me back on the chat later. We’ll be at the after party, Wynn nightclub, babe.
