Rick and morty Season 5 Episode 3, titled “A Rickconvenient Mort,” highlighted Morty’s age and the intensity of teenage love. The episode introduced Planetina (voiced by Alison Brie), who was Morty’s new crush. Then Beth (voiced by Sarah Chalke) questioned their age difference.
Planetina was a “sensitive amalgam of natural elements”. So the age didn’t exactly apply to her. But it was clear that Morty was still just a child. Later, Beth also confirmed that Morty was as old as he was when Rick and morty created.
“My son is 14,” Beth said.

When you speak with Collider before Rick and morty Season 5 premiere, Roiland reflected on the time that has passed since season 1.
“It’s funny because it’s been almost 10 years. The show premiered in December 2013, ”Roiland said. ” I thought about it. I’m like ‘I think it’s been less time than that.’ “
Then the Rick and morty the co-creator has revealed his thoughts on Morty’s age, hinting that he wants the character to stay in high school for a while.
“They’re still in high school obviously. It’s an interesting thing because that’s where the cartoon comes in, ”Roiland said. “I don’t want to see Morty graduate from high school.
He continued, “Personally, I would rather high school was still on the table because there are so many fun stories you can do there, and for me it’s a great place for character and story. . “

While it is possible Rick and morty fans will never see Morty grow old, Roiland suggested the team could “transfer” the character to college. That said, the writers are more likely to reserve this type of script for Summer (voiced by Spencer Grammer) because she is already older.
Anyway, it seems that age doesn’t matter much in Rick and morty universe. Although the characters haven’t aged for five seasons, they still have the opportunity to grow.
“There’s still character development and growth and stuff, but they’re all still locked into the same age,” Roiland told Collider. “We have these serialized things that we recognize and we pay for things emotionally and narratively and everything. There are consequences and time goes by, walking there is Jerry [voiced by Chris Parnell] and Beth broke up for a while and then came back.
He added, “Just all these things that go on that are serialized, but we still have them all the same age, which is kinda funny, interesting… who cares? It’s like, ‘We can do whatever we want.’ I don’t know, these things are kind of at odds with each other, but to me, I’m like… I think it would be our jumping shark if it was like, ‘OK, Morty is growing up. . ‘ “
Rick and morty Season 5 airs Sunday nights on Adult Swim.
