Double Fine has revealed that Psychonauts 2 will feature an invincibility toggle because he believes “everyone should be able to enjoy the games.”

Double Fine shared this news on Twitter in response to Xbox’s Twitter saying that “beating the game on the lowest difficulty is always beating the game”.

“If you beat Psychonauts 2 with the invincibility button turned on, you still beat P2.” Double Fine wrote. “Everyone should be able to enjoy the games. All ages, all possible needs. It is an ongoing and important process for our industry and a challenge we must face. [sic]. End of the day? We want you to have fun, to laugh, to have a story that touches you. Under the conditions you want. “

The studio also shared a satirical quote that pokes fun at those online who try to control games and say not everyone should be playing a game.

“Uh, excuse me, I beat Sword Guy Serious Time in no-hitting mode and if I didn’t I don’t respect you. Shooty mcBlam? I don’t think so,” the story reads. quote.

In response to the false quote, and to emphasize this point, Double Fine added, “cool bud. you are so cool! ”

This debate about the difficulty of the game has been going on for years now, but the truth is that the difficulty is relative to individual players in many ways. Adding an invincibility toggle to Psychonauts 2 doesn’t affect the player who wants to play on the more difficult difficulty in any way. It only allows more players to enjoy a game that may well become their next all-time favorite.

Psychonauts 2 and its invincibility toggle will release on August 25, 2021 on Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5 via backward compatibility. Oh, and it’ll be available on Xbox Game Pass on Day 1.
