Three England players face flood of racist messages after missing Euro 2020 penalties

The harassment reached such a climax that the English Football Association (FA) issued a conviction statement. Three players, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, all missed shots on goal in a shootout against Italy, resulting in England’s 3-2 defeat. In a statement, the FA said it would support players affected by racist language “while calling for the harshest possible penalties for anyone responsible.” The FA also called for “appropriate legislation so that this abuse has real consequences.” London Metropolitan Police said they would investigate the “offensive and racist” posts.
