The road to the big screen has been long and winding for Black Widow, but the first MCU Phase 4 movie has finally arrived. For the last time, Scarlett Johansson took on the role of Natasha Romanoff for her very first solo adventure, which sees a runaway Nat reunite with her family of Russian spies to bring down the Red Room that traumatized and trained her.

Said family of spies is made up of exciting newcomers to the MCU like Florence Pugh (like Yelena Belova) and Rachel Weisz (Melina Vostokoff). There is also Strange things star David Harbor, who helps steal the show as Alexei Shostakov, aka Red Guardian. As the Russian equivalent of Captain America, Red Guardian spends much of the film dreaming about its glory days. He is the comic highlight of Black Widow, and the door seems wide open for a future return. At the moment, however, this is his only MCU project..

Harbor joined some of her co-stars to celebrate Black Widowcame out this weekend, although it took a rather fun approach. Harbor shared a few photos of himself and Johansson, Pugh and Weisz liners on Sunday. However, in the caption, he acted like they really were the actresses. “So down to earth and kind, I kept saying that we are not the “real actresses” obviously to make me feel less intimidated to work with international stars!“he joked. He ended the message by calling the shoot,”All in all, 4 and a half weird and wonderful months!“and signing with”#dadjokes. ”You can see his full post below.

Harbor’s goofy Red Guardian brings lots of laughs to Black Widow, which is ultimately one of the more serious MCU installments. Still, it’s clear that Harbor itself is suited for comedy, and fans have widely praised his performance. There is a lot of interest in seeing him return in the future, possibly alongside Yelena or Melina. Harbor recently confirmed that he had heard of the return of the Red Guardian, although he also admitted that Marvel had a lot of work in progress that he was not a part of.

Apart Black Widow, Harbor has also worked hard to Strange things season 4 for Netflix. The hit streaming series might be the biggest obstacle to a future Red Guardian appearance, but it’s probably safe to say the actor will find a way to make it work. With the dust barely settled Black Widow, it may be a little while before fans find out more about what’s to come for Alexei from Harbor. Hopefully, this won’t be the last time we see him.
