Now Tesla owners who received the update in the early access program are starting to test it, and some have noticed specific improvements, like taillight detection.
Musk added that Tesla’s vision system would soon also be able to detect more lights from vehicles in its surroundings:
“It will soon pick up on turn signals, hazards, ambulance / police lights and even hand gestures.”
This development is crucial so that Tesla’s autonomous driving system can respond to emergency vehicles when needed.
The CEO then added that once the detection and rendering of lights is added to the system, the automaker will add feedback to these new entries.
Musk also noted that Tesla was working on listening to sirens and alarms.
The automaker is notorious for relying on cameras and neural networks for its autonomous driving system, because that’s what comes closest to the only driving system known today: humans.
