The new Jackass star suffered a horror shark bite when a wakeboard jump over infested waters went awry as the team performed stunts for Shark Week.
After coming out unscathed from a handful of antics during their Discovery special on Sunday, Jackass members Steve-O and Chris Pontius have decided to send one of their newest crew, Sean McInerney – nicknamed “Poopies” – wakeboarding through shark infested waters.
After a successful first race, they decided to raise the stakes and “jump the shark”, sending McInerney off a ramp.
But McInerney failed to stick the landing and dove into the waters as sharks rushed towards him.
He was almost immediately bitten in the hand, as crew members rushed to rescue him.

As McInerney bleeds profusely, security and medical teams are calling for a tourniquet.
Steve-O, who has suffered his fair share of Jackass-related injuries including a shark bite to his hand, seemed relieved it wasn’t worse.

But in an interview with Steve WillDoIt before it aired, Steve-O, aka Stephen Glover, revealed that McInerney’s injury was much worse than the special hinted at, and that he was lucky to be alive. .
He said McInerney was “maimed” in the attack and had to undergo surgery to reattach the tendons and two arteries to his hand.

Pontius also recognized the risks inherent in the crew’s stunts in the special.
