2021 MLB Draft Follow-up: Live Results, Draft Order for Day 2; analysis of each first round pick

The annual MLB Amateur Draft is underway. The 20-round process started on Sunday evening with the first round. The Pirates held the No. 1 pick and used it against Louisville wide receiver Henry Davis. Right-hander Jack Leiter was second overall for the Rangers and his Vanderbilt teammate Kumar Rocker was the 10th overall pick for the Mets.

Overall, 36 picks were made on Sunday night, including the A competitive balance cycle and the Reds’ free agent clearing pick. Here are our takeaways from the first night of the draft.

Rounds 2-10 will be on Monday and Rounds 11-20 will be on Tuesday. The project was shortened from 40 rounds to five rounds last year as a cost-cutting measure during the pandemic. There will be 20 rounds this year. Here is how to look.
