From what fans have gleaned so far, it looks like Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s rekindled romance is still going strong. The two megastars, who apparently got back together after an isolated trip to Montana in May, have taken their relationship step by step – though those steps may feel more like leaps and bounds to some. But there’s one element of their new romance that seems to be a big part of what makes their relationship work this time around, and that’s their ability to be equal and independent participants in their romantic partnership.
According to a new report from an Entertainment Tonight source, the couple still “spend all their free time together and make each other a priority.”

“J.Lo is falling hard and certainly did the same with Ben this time around,” a source shared with the outlet. “Ben is a dude and does his own thing, which J.Lo loves.”
“He has his own life and is famous in a different way than her and in no way tries to compete with her,” the source continued. “They support and love each other.”

This latest reported glimpse into the couple’s romance really shines a light on what Lopez enjoys about this iteration of his relationship with Affleck. Much has changed since their engagement from November 2002 to January 2004, when Affleck and Lopez’s main problem was the constant media attention that haunted their relationship.

Unlike her previous relationship with Alex Rodriguez, Lopez doesn’t seem determined to bring her romance to the forefront in other areas of her life than her role that makes her happy. With Rodriguez, however, the singer not only looked more and more at her status as a celebrity couple, but even got involved in different business ventures with her ex-fiance – which makes us think of the former player of the MLB when this source says Lopez likes how Affleck “has a life of her own.”
Now that she’s back with Affleck, it looks like Lopez really wants to keep the details of her renewed romance as private as possible. Lopez and Affleck are both in completely different places of life than they were as up-and-coming Hollywood heavyweights in the early years. Now, it looks like the two can put each other first while still feeling confident and self-assured in their own jobs and personal goals.
