In Black Widow, the latest entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the villainous Taskmaster goes into a lot of fights with a lot of people. Like the character’s comic book counterpart, the supervillain is able to mimic the fighting style of anyone he observes, and the character adopts a host of signature fighting styles from various Avengers that we’ve seen in. through the MCU.
So let’s break down the fighting styles that Taskmaster adopts. Black Widow.

Black Widow Herself, Natasha Romanoff
It is not surprising that Taskmaster (Olga Kurilenko) fights like Black Widow (AKA Natasha Romanoff, AKA Scarlett johansson). We first meet Taskmaster in the film when she and Natasha clash on the bridge near where Natasha is hiding after the events of Captain America: Civil War.
The two get down to it and Taskmaster mirrors Natasha’s every move. If that wasn’t enough to make it clear that Dreykov’s daughter learned to fight like Natasha, we also see her watching (and learning from) a Romanoff fight video.
Captain America
Just like Steve Rogers (Chris evans) and Sam Wilson (Anthony mackie), Taskmaster has a round shield that she likes to throw at things, and we see Taskmaster throw that shield at Natasha a few times. The first time is when Natasha was in that wrecked car on the bridge. Another time, Yelena (Florence pugh) sees the shield in action when Taskmaster throws it at her and Natasha at a subway station.
Hawk Eye
Taskmaster channels some Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) of energy as she pursues Natasha and Yelena in Budapest. While chasing the two widows in a tank (!), She pulls out a bow and arrows and shoots with Hawkeye-level accuracy.
The Winter Soldier
Taskmaster also emulates the fighting style of Steve Rogers’ best friend, Bucky Barnes (AKA The Winter Solider, AKA Sebastien stan). In his fight with the Red Guardian (David Harbor), Taskmaster is releasing a whole bunch of Avenger styles, one of which is the Winter Soldier’s signature blade switch movement.
Spider Man
Right before his Winter Soldier move, Taskmaster also drew inspiration from the Spider-Man playbook. She kicks Red Guardian’s solar plexus with a quick two-foot straight kick and lands in a soft superhero pose that is reminiscent of Peter Parker.
Black Panther
This same fight also has Taskmaster taking on some of Black Panther’s abilities. Before she charges Red Guardian, the costume covering her fingers develops claws. We’ve seen similar weapons on Black Panther’s costume, although I don’t think Taskmaster’s are as strong as T’Challa’s vibranium claws.
