Following the massive success that Sega and developer Atlus have had with Person 5 and its many spinoffs, it seemed logical that a possible successor to Person 6 would happen at some point in the future. And although the next installment in the popular JRPG series has yet to be officially revealed, Atlus himself has confirmed that he is very much preparing to create the next chapter in the franchise.
Spotted on a recruiting page for the Japanese wing of Atlus, the studio interviewed a number of its team members to talk about the studio’s future. In doing so, the developer confirmed that Person 6 is absolutely a game he seeks to make. However, the continued creation Person 6 is something the company sees as quite intimidating because they want to make sure they can improve Person 5 substantially.
Atlus director Naoto Hiraoka spoke about it more specifically, saying the studio definitely feels pressure when it comes to making Person 6. “Thanks to the great support we have received for Person 5, we have a sense of accomplishment. But we can’t stop there. When we created Person 4, there was a pressure he had to overcome Person 3. Now we will have to create a 6 which exceeds 5“, explained Hiraoka.” However, overtaking 5 will be difficult with the current staff. I would like to overcome this great obstacle with all those who join us in this recruitment. The workplace is perfect for those looking for a creative challenge when it comes to bringing games to the world. “
Overall, it looks like Hiraoka is saying that Atlus needs to develop a bit before he can properly tackle his work on Person 6. After all, that’s probably why this director’s interview got put on a recruiting site in the first place.
So what would you like to see Person 6? And how do you think the game can improve Person 5? Let me know your thoughts either in the comments.
