WWE Raw Results, Recap, Reaction (July 12, 2021): Goodbye, ThunderDome

[ad_1]

August 21, 2020 Smack down was the first show with the ThunderDome.

In this show, at the end of the first hour, I was already done.

Screens and fan directing have never been my cup of tea. Well, I wasn’t a fan of the screens used for fans. They certainly were able to do different things with screens and platforms that could never have been done without them.

Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns used them for their match. So are Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton. But my favorite moment with the ThunderDome was actually just a few weeks ago, when Bayley’s face appeared on every screen mocking Bianca Belair. Apart from that, the presentation of the fire for the Orton vs Fiend Firefly Fun House Inferno match.

I recapped WWE since the night after WrestlingMania 36, and only had the pleasure of two shows with a crowd.

It all ends this Friday.

ThunderDome is dead. Let’s do everything in our power to make sure he never has to debut a new gadget again.

Let us come to the successes and failures of this show. For a complete overview of Gross, check out Claire Elizabeth’s live blog!

No more nice gentleman

I could sort of see where it was going before Bobby Lashley stepped into the ring.

The ladies and the MVP were there to turn him on, and he was super focused, almost like he was trying to drown them all.

Xavier Woods did a really cool jump off Lashley’s back, but the man made Lashley made him pay for it with a military press outside. Back inside, Lashley was in a crossed face and pulled Woods out. He then stabbed Woods and went for the Hurt Lock, but Woods became a schoolboy to win!

It was a surprise that I did not see coming, since it is 6 days from Money in the bank but I always forget that they don’t really care about that. (They’re Vince McMahon. That’s a smart reservation outside of Roman Reigns.)

Later, New Day was interviewed and told that Lashley was back in the VIP lounge later. Kofi Kingston again referred to Lashley being distracted.

And then it happened.

Lashley came back a little disheveled and you could see that MVP knew something was up. Lashley told the ladies to leave and then said Kofi was right. He’s been distracted and it’s time for the bullshit to end.

He then destroyed the VIP lounge, grabbed the mic again, and said he would destroy Kofi and his career.

Excellent closing segment. Bobby didn’t break up with MVP like I predicted last week, but he did better. He made sure to put an end to the distractions and have the MVP play a role from Paul Heyman to his Brock Lesnar.

I wonder if this is a little or foreshadowing?

Where’s Alexa Bliss?

Prior to this match, DouDrop was invited to Alexa Bliss’ playground, but Eva Marieeeeeeee joined her.

Bliss wasn’t happy with her there and tried to get DouDrop to answer her question and Marie didn’t.

The Eva-Lution therefore decided to go out during the fatal four way. I liked that DouDrop was nice to her, but it was short-lived because Bliss yelled at Marie and DouDrop threw her over the barricade.

And then she just … disappeared. Never even returned for the game.

Asuka had a blast with Naomi and Nikki ASH. Naomi’s double attempt on them.

But Nikki was able to take the win here, and I like that for her. Getting this character with a few wins certainly helps, right?

Unrelated to Gross, I absolutely hate what people on social media did to Naomi that forced her to quit Twitter. Don’t be a jerk to people. It’s a simple thing, really.

I don’t know what the reasoning was for Alexa’s disappearance act, but if she reappears on Sunday my bet is that she wins the Money in the bank briefcase. (And I think Lilly will be in that briefcase.)

The rest

Ricochet defeats John Morrison

Drip Drip and Miz made Riddle and Ricochet squirt before the game. Morrison nodded Ricochet nasty on the apron and went for a quick blanket. Morrison tried using Miz’s wheelchair to pin Ricochet and it didn’t work. Ricochet had a very good German suplex. They spilled over into LED panels and Ricochet slammed into it. (You won’t miss, screens!) Top of Ricochet’s 450 barricade too. Darling. And Ricochet is F *** ING INSANE pressing a shooting star on the ring post to the ground. They ended up in Gorilla and returned to the stage. Miz is honestly a really funny trash can talking from the wheelchair. RICOCHET LOWERED THE WHEELCHAIR BEHIND MIZ HAHAHAHA. Riddle helped Ricochet by tipping the wheelchair onto his back and I lost him. Ricochet splashed Morrison across the ladder set up between the ring and the table to win. Shit. It was unbelievable.

Rhea Ripley defeated Natalya

Natalya put in a hell of a lot of effort, but what interested me the most was the deadly beating after Charlotte Flair’s game. Flair wore high heels and ran into that ring and locked Ripley in the number eight while clinging to the ring. Ripley bit the bottom rope to, I guess, focus some of that pain elsewhere. It was a quick and badass beating. I’m ready for that end-of-feud game hopefully on Sunday.

Sheamus defeats Humberto Carrillo

Sheamus attacked Carrillo before the game after agreeing to be on the same page with Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville. He then watched with Damian Priest! (Hey remember that guy who tagged with BAD RABBIT?) Carrillo limped out and entered the ring aaaaaaaaa and off we went. There was no doubt in my mind that Sheamus was winning here. Sheamus came back for a few seconds and Priest made the stop.

Ivar beats AJ Styles / Omos beats Erik

Styles was about to apologize but took the heel route. He also made the classic underestimate your opponent and forgot how nimble and powerful Ivar is. Styles attempted a powerbomb at sunset and Ivar struggled with a chin. Ivar hit the Banzai drop to win.

Omos knocked Erik down early, then Omos became arrogant. He went to get a bear hug and Erik pushed his way through. He gained momentum for a while, then Omos crushed him. A mad electric bomb put Erik aside. I expected Omos to win here.

Jinder Mahal will no longer ride

Because Drew McIntyre broke some accessories on his custom bike. Never mind.
