Prince George felt all the ups and downs of England’s loss to Italy

Prince George experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows in England’s crushing loss to Italy at the 2021 European Championships on Sunday night.

The 7-year-old attended Sunday’s game accompanied by his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and started the game in ecstasy when England scored a goal in the opening minutes.

Video footage captured a dizzy George laughing and hugging both parents, as the delighted Prince William pumped his fists and clapped.

Everything seemed to be going well!

But at the end of the game after Italy beat England on penalties – the young prince looked dejected.

George is a huge football fan, as is his father, Prince William, who is president of the Football Association and regularly takes root for Aston Villa.

He attended England’s game against Germany last month with his parents, where he made headlines for wearing a neat suit and tie.

There was apparently a debate over what the young prince would wear for Sunday’s game, according to former professional tennis player Marion Bartoli.

“Yesterday I had afternoon tea with the Duchess, and it was really a discussion about whether George would be allowed to wear the jersey tonight at Wembley or not,” Bartoli said during an appearance on Radio 5 Live, via Yahoo.

“William was all for it, Kate wasn’t that enthusiastic so we’ll see,” she said.

Since George didn’t end up wearing the jersey for the occasion, Royal Watchers will need to be careful and see if he’s wearing it (or any other football gear) for his upcoming birthday portraits, as he did it last year.
