A few additions, however, could upset some reactionaries on the Internet. Specifically, the pregnant man and his gender neutral equivalent, the pregnant person, have been proposed as inclusive additions since pregnancy is possible for some transgender and non-binary people. The world may also soon receive a gender neutral person with a crown option to accompany the man and woman emoji wearing crowns.
Adding new emoji means removing others. For Unicode 14, that will likely mean losing the vulture (how shall we talk about private equity?), The crow, the raised little finger (more tea?), The orchid, the pot, the sub, and the chainsaw.
Unicode is expected to approve the final Unicode 14 character list in September this year, which means we can probably expect the new emoji to appear on our devices in the first half of 2022.
