Police are asking the public for help in identifying the shooters.
Six people were injured and a 6-year-old girl was killed in a shooting incident in Washington, DC on Friday night.
The District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department released a video statement regarding the shooting, which took place shortly after 11 p.m.
Deputy Executive Chief Ashan M. Benedict said police heard gunshots at 2900 Block of Martin Luther King, Jr., Avenue, Southeast, and rushed to the scene to find six injured victims: three adult men, two adult women and a child.
The 6-year-old girl was shot and killed at the scene and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, Benedict said.
The five adults were being treated at area hospitals on Friday night for non-life threatening injuries.
The shooters are unknown and the police are asking the public for help in identifying them.
“We are asking for the public’s help in bringing these shooters to justice,” said Benedict.
