Gunshots erupted outside Nationals Park baseball stadium in Washington, DC on Saturday, injuring at least two people and causing some people to flee into the public, officials and witnesses said.

The incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday when several gunshots were heard during the Nationals game against the San Diego Padres. Police said the shots were fired outside the stadium, near the door to third base.

“MPD responds to shooting in the 1500 block of South Capitol Street, SW, in which two people were shot outside Nationals Park,” police said in a brief statement. “This is currently an active investigation and it appears that there is no ongoing threat at this time.”

There was no official information on the conditions of the injured, but local media said no one was killed.

“Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please,” said a stadium announcer after the sound of gunfire, which caused some people to flee and seek shelter. “At this time, we ask you to stay in the stadium. Please stay calm.

Shortly after, fans were told to leave the stadium through the CF and RF gates.

Details of the circumstances of Saturday’s shooting were not immediately known, and it is not known whether any arrests were made. “We are working with law enforcement to provide more information as it becomes available,” the Washington Nationals said in a statement.
