National park shooting: At least 4 shots outside the stadium during a Saturday night baseball game, police say

CNN reporters inside the stadium reported hearing several loud bangs. A message on the scoreboard initially told fans to stay inside the baseball park, but it has since been updated to say that it is safe for fans to leave the stadium.

“This is currently an active investigation and it appears that there is no continuing threat at this time,” the DC Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement. Tweeter.

CNN has contacted the Metropolitan Police Department and Washington Nationals for further comment.

The Nationals were playing against the San Diego Padres when the shootout started. Play was halted late in the 6th inning and the game is on hold until Sunday afternoon, the Nationals said on Twitter.

“The suspended game will resume at 1:05 pm ET and end in a regulation nine-innings game,” the team said.

Nationals-Padres Series Game 3 which was originally scheduled to start at the same time on Sunday, but will instead be played at the end of the suspended game, the team said.
