As Tedeschi and Trucks previously noted, the pair has several ties to Layla and other matching love songs: The album was released on Susan Tedeschi’s birthday in November 1970, and Trucks are both named after Derek and the Dominos and are a former member of the Allman Brothers Band.

“By the time I started playing guitar, the sound of Duane Allman’s slide was almost an obsession,” Trucks said in a statement. “His play on Layla is always one of the strong points for me. The wit, the joy, the recklessness and inevitability of it. My dad would play this record for me and my brother to put us to sleep and burn it more into my DNA. “
