The Yankees hosted the Red Sox on Saturday night at Yankee Stadium. The game was initially delayed due to the weather, but later in the game there was a temporary delay when a fan threw a baseball at Verdugo.

Here is a video where you can see the ball on the pitch behind Verdugo as he is properly angry and yelling at the fans.

It’s also worth noting that you can see the referees helping security locate the fan who threw the ball and immediately eject it. This fan is also at risk of being arrested.

Look, yell at the players as much as you want. You bought the ticket and you can heckle at will. They are also real human beings just trying to do their job, so anything that puts them in danger is absolutely forbidden. You cannot throw things at players. It doesn’t even mention that even if you’re not in a stadium, throwing an object behind someone’s back from a distance is something high on the list of cowardly things a person can do. Throwing a baseball at a player you don’t like isn’t cool. It is the height of cowardice.

It looks like justice has been served – hopefully with a lifetime ban from Yankee Stadium and possibly the entire MLB – and the game has finally resumed with Verdugo remaining in left field.
