Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo was hit in the back with a baseball thrown by a fan in the sixth inning at the Stadium on Saturday night.
After being hit, Verdugo was furious, yelling at fans in the stands, and manager Alex Cora took his team off the pitch for a few minutes before the game resumed.
Several fans in the left-field bleachers told The Post the ball was thrown into the stands after the pre-round warm-ups. Chants immediately started from fans around the fan rejecting him. He did, and it hit Verdugo. The fan was kicked out of the game.
“He turned around and started yelling at them,” said security guard Carlos Ventura, referring to Verdugo. “My supervisor found the person and they got him.”
