It’s been five years since Miesha Tate’s last fight in the UFC, but you wouldn’t have known it watching her work Marion Reneau in her comeback fight at UFC Vegas 31 tonight (Saturday, July 17, 2021) inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Tate was up two laps before the third and continued to put pressure on Reneau in the final lap, intimidating her until the fence, then knocking her down. Reneau found herself face down on the canvas with her arm trapped behind Tate’s head. Miesha took the opportunity to trigger a field and pound barrage that forced the referee to stop things at 1:53 of the third round.
Watch the finish and highlights below:
The win puts Tate at 19-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC, while Reneau retires at 44 – FORTY-FOUR! – with a 9-8-1 MMA career, 5-7-1 UFC.
