Google Pixel 6 – Sold by Google, Manufactured by Foxconn, Powered by Samsung

In case you didn’t know, the The full specs for Google’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro / XL devices have been leaked, and we can already see the important role that Samsung has played in their development. Let’s break it down into three sections on processor, screen, and camera, and give them the attention they deserve.
Google Pixel 6 processor: made by Samsung

We dived into the Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro / XL processor in this article. In summary, the custom “Whitechapel” chip is developed as part of the Large Scale Integration Division (SLSI) of the Samsung Semiconductors system.
In other words, this is a custom-made SoC by Samsung, and similar to the Exynos 2100 found in the Galaxy S21 series, but unique and adapted to the needs of Google. “Whitechapel” should improve the user experience compared to the Google Pixel 5, which as you might remember was powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G.

Moving on – it’s no secret that Samsung has some of the best smartphone displays available. They sell panels to many smartphone manufacturers. Of course, Samsung’s most notable customer when it comes to displays is … Apple – for the iPhone.
However, a few days ago a famous tipster Ross Young took to Twitter to reveal that the Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro / XL will also use panels made by Samsung from Samsung Display.
On the flip side, Jon Prosser’s spec leak indicates that the Pixel 6 will indeed use an AMOLED display (made by Samsung), but also suggests that the Pixel 6 Pro / XL will use a P-OLED display. P-OLED is a display technology developed by LG – the same LG that made the Pixel 2XL for Google, which arrived with all kinds of issues.
Whether or not history repeats itself and whether or not Google uses different manufacturers for the two different Google Pixel 6 devices… we’ll have to wait and see. But it looks like we’ll definitely have at least a Google Pixel 6 featuring a panel made by Samsung and hopefully zero problematic displays. I’m looking at you, LG!

It’s still not clear whether the Pixel 6 & 6 Pro / XL will use Sony or Samsung sensors, but there are three in total on the 6 and four on the 6 XL.
Unlike the processor and display, we’re not working with so much information here, but that’s enough to make educated guesses.

In the specs listed above, sourced from Jon Prosser, it says the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro / XL will use a 50MP sensor made by Sony for their main camera. Keep in mind that the “Sony” bit comes from a separate rumor dating back to May, which has yet to be fully confirmed by another information leak.
Therefore, we assume that it is possible that the 50MP sensor is made by Samsung. The Korean company recently unveiled a brand new 50MP sensor, and there is already a 50MP GN2 sensor made by Samsung, which is used in the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, which offers a stellar camera experience.
Even though the main camera sensor of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro / XL turns out to be made by Sony, this is by no means bad as Sony makes some of the best and most popular smartphone camera sensors. At the same time, that doesn’t mean that at least some of the two (Pixel 6) and three (Pixel 6 Pro / XL) remaining rear / front camera sensors are not made by Samsung.
Therefore, there is a good chance that part of the Pixel 6’s camera system is also being powered by the Korean tech giant! We will provide more information on this as it becomes available. It’s not a Galaxy Nexus, but it’s so close …
Indeed, the Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro / XL probably won’t be made by Samsung or by devices rebranded Google Play Galaxy S21, but it’s about as close as it gets!
The Pixel 6 series seems to take all of the quality Samsung components – the screen, chip, and maybe some camera sensors, and add the “Google sauce” – five years of fast and smooth Android OS updates and Pixel camera processing (loved by many), to create a one-of-a-kind device that will finally give Android fans level hardware Samsung with Google-level software magic!
In a way, Google is trying to partner with Samsung to give you a Powered by Samsung lighthouse, which could end up being better as flagship products from Samsung! It’s a Galaxy in disguise … and a good one!
If someone told you a year ago when the mid-range Pixel 5 was released that next year Google would be making a true flagship phone with some of the best components available, would you have it? believed? I do not think so…
