Mercedes GLE Facelift unofficially rendered with S-class lights

The Mercedes GLE Class gets a makeover. Too early? We thought so too. The current generation of the luxury SUV was just revealed in September 2018, but apparently Mercedes-Benz is already testing its refreshed version on public roads.

First spotted, a Mercedes GLE prototype was seen with minimal cover-up last month. Although it is still relatively early, we can already assume that a facelift is underway but with only small changes compared to the current model.

Our friends at Kolesa went ahead and stripped down the barely-wrapped prototype, with modifications that Mercedes fans are familiar with.

Obviously, the GLE seen here wears the headlights seen on the Mercedes S-Class, which is just slightly different from the current model but definitely distinctive. At the rear, the render also shows a revised taillight graphic, also following the lead of the flagship Merc. Other than that, there aren’t many changes seen on the GLE spotted last month in Stuttgart. This is quite expected given that the model is relatively new.

Of course, these are just fictitious renderings, so don’t take them for granted yet. Then again we can say that the GLE is quite attractive with the same lighting as the flagship model.

Inside, the upcoming GLE facelift is expected to gain a few cabin updates, although we don’t count on any changes to the side-by-side screen layout. There might be software upgrades, but that’s about it for the refreshed model.

Since it is still at the beginning of its life cycle, the debut of the GLE facelift could take place later this year or in early 2022. It could then be sold in the United States as a model year 2023, while an equivalent electric version that could go by the name EQE SUV is also expected to arrive.
