Mat George, co-host of ‘She Rate Dogs’ podcast, killed in hit and run near Beverly Center

BEVERLY GROVE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) – Popular podcast host Mat George has been killed by a hit-and-run driver on a street near the Beverly Center.

The 26-year-old was co-host of the “She Rates Dogs” podcast, which focused on relationship counseling and dating stories.

“I’d rather you (hear) this from me rather than a newspaper article. Mat was killed in a hit and run last night,” his co-host Michaela Okland tweeted. “I don’t really have any other words at the moment. I wish I could contact anyone who knows him personally, but the news has already come out and I just can’t do it at the moment.”

A white BMW moving east on Beverly Boulevard early Saturday morning struck George as he was walking south on Croft Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

“The impact caused the pedestrian to move in an easterly direction and collide with the roadway,” according to a statement from the LAPD. “The driver of the white BMW continued to drive east without stopping, providing assistance and / or identifying himself as required by California law.”

George was pronounced dead at the scene.
