The last thing Warriors fans want to see is Draymond Green injured playing for Team USA, and both sides could have dodged a bullet Sunday night in Las Vegas.
In Team USA’s 83-76 win over Spain in an exhibition in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics next week, Green lunged for a driving layup, made a hard contact and appeared to twist his right elbow.
Green shot the foul and was very uncomfortable when he shot both free throws. He seriously missed the first free throw and spent time rubbing his right elbow before the second shot.
The apparent injury occurred at the end of the third quarter of the exhibition match, and Green would be substituted at the next dead ball. He returned to the game midway through the fourth quarter.
It didn’t look like Green needed medical attention from Team USA’s coaching staff and before resuming the game he was standing on the sidelines cheering on his teammates.
Green started the final tune-up game, finishing with six points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in just over 25 minutes of action.

The three-time NBA champion shot 2 of 7 from the field, including a 3-point shot to beat the shot clock shortly before bending his elbow.
The United States team is due to leave for Tokyo this week and will start group play at the Olympics next Sunday.
While Green was in a lot of pain at first, it appears he avoided any sort of injury that could have caused him to miss the Olympics.
