BROOKLYN, MI – The Faster Horses camping and country music festival continued as usual on Sunday, despite the festival’s highest number of deaths in the eight years it has lasted.
The body of a 30-year-old woman was discovered on Saturday July 17. Later that day, five men were found unconscious in their trailer, three of whom died of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.

While the festival continues normally, deaths linked to the festival have made national news.
Fans began to gather near the main stage about an hour before the first main stage performer. Performers always invite fans to sing along, and friends share snacks and have beers.
Two festival-goers slipped on a toboggan while standing all along the descent. Their cries of joy were accompanied by country music in the distance.
The closest mention of anything negative by the management of Faster Horses was an electronic posting of the message “See something?” Say something. ”Near the stage. Social media accounts for the festival did not mention the deaths.
Festival organizers initially declined to comment, but did so later at 5:40 p.m.
“The Faster Horses Festival is deeply saddened by the tragic losses this weekend, as confirmed by the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department. Our hearts are broken for families, friends and loved ones, ”said Courtney Johanson, publicist for GreenRoom Public Relations, which represents the festival.

And for some fans, they didn’t know someone was dead.
First-time festival-goer Nicole McElwain visited the festival from Canton, Ohio. She said she enjoyed meeting nice people at the festival, but wished she had known about the deaths of the festival organizers.
“I’d love to know what’s going on around me just because I’m from out of state,” McElwain said.
However, McElwain said she could understand why festival organizers wouldn’t announce the deaths as it could cause some chaos, but downloaded the festival app and would have liked a notification.
Josh Thwaites and Brianna Motto came to the festival for the first time to see Thomas Rhett. They said the topic of conversation they heard from others focused on mud and how to get cars and trailers out of it after Friday’s rain. They didn’t know someone was dead.
The incidents did not concern Nola Berry for her safety or that of her friends, with whom she traveled to attend the festival for her seventh time.
“We don’t travel alone and we don’t drink excessively. (You) have to keep your cool, ”Berry said.
Berry’s friend Melinda Hambleton has been to the festival four times and heard about the incident from her friends.
“It’s just something that was an accident, something that happened, you know, (you) kind of learn from it,” Hambleton said.
On the grounds of the Faster Horses Festival, the party continues.
