The Killers announce their seventh album “Pressure Machine”

The Killers have announced that they will return next month with the seventh album ‘Pressure Machine’.

The group’s new Las Vegas record will arrive via EMI on August 13 and was created after they found themselves with unexpected downtime due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They were to hit the road to support 2020’s “Imploding The Mirage”, but instead used their free time to immediately start working on its follow-up.

“It all stopped,” frontman Brandon Flowers said. “And it was the first time in a long time that I was faced with silence. And from that silence, this record began to bloom, full of songs that would otherwise have been too quiet and drowned out by the sound of typical Killers records. “

The record is also set to be one of The Killers’ most personal offerings to date, with Brandon explaining how he was inspired by his experiences growing up in the sleepy town of Nephi, Utah.

“Without the advancements in the auto industry, Nephi in the ’90s could have been in the’ 50s,” Brandon said. “I discovered this grief that I had not faced.

“Many memories of my time in Nephi are fond. But those related to fear or great sadness were loaded with emotion. I have more understanding now than when we started the band, and I hope I was able to do justice to those stories and lives in this small town where I grew up.

Elsewhere, the band’s touring guitarist Dave Keuning recently admitted that they also had a “good start” on their eighth album.

“I’m just happy to be back in any capacity on the seventh album and now that it’s done I’m just excited to write and see where the eighth goes,” Keuning said. NME.

“I don’t think we know what it will look like. It’s too early, but we’re writing ideas for it and we’ve got quite a few already, so we’ve got a good start.

The flowers, meanwhile, have already said NME that the second album “could be even better” than “Imploding The Mirage”.
