3 people arrested in Georgia after allegedly assaulting boy, shaving word “gay” in his scalp

Atlanta police arrested three people last week after a 12-year-old boy had his hair cut with the word “gay” and brutalized in a disturbing attack posted to social media, reported the authorities announced Monday.

Lorkeyla Jamia Spencer, 19, and Brittney Monique Mills, 35, remained in Fulton County Jail Monday morning and are charged with child cruelty, a spokeswoman for the sheriff said.

Jordan Jarrode Richards-Nwankwo, 18, was charged with child cruelty and bodily harm before posting $ 50,000 bail and being released on Sunday, the sheriff’s representative added.

Gaye Magazine’s Instagram, an online post that focuses on LGBTQ issues within the black community, posted the disturbing footage last month, showing a boy berated by what appeared to be two women behind the camera and a man in front.

“You always do gay bullshit,” the man said to the boy.

This man then turns the boy’s head towards the camera, showing the word “gay” shaved on his scalp.

“You think that on the side of your head for no reason, is that what you think?” the man said before slapping the boy hard on the side of the head. “So why are you just saying gay a– s —?” “

The man then punched and pushed the boy in the video.

“It was a difficult video to watch when you see someone … a youngster being abused like that,” said the Atlanta Police Sgt. John Chafee told reporters. “It was difficult to watch.”

Police did not say how the suspects were related to the child.

“Investigators were made aware of a video posted to social media that depicted what appeared to be a young man who was being abused and it appeared he was being abused because of his sexual orientation,” Chafee said. “We are delighted with the feedback we have received from the community that has helped us in this area. “

Investigators from the Special Victims Unit received advice from the public and “were able to find the scene of the incident and identify the minor and he was turned over to the Georgia Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS) “, according to a police statement.

Mills’ attorney could not be reached for comment on Monday, while the arrest and arrest records for Spencer and Richards-Nwankwo did not show they had hired or appointed lawyers yet.
