In an unexpected move, Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis announced that team president Marc Badain had stepped down from his post, effective immediately.
There was no reason Davis gave for Badain’s sudden departure after 30 years with the team. Badain then released a statement, essentially saying it was time to move on.
Davis said in a press release that Dan Ventrelle will assume the interim Raiders’ presidency to initially replace Badain. Ventrelle has been with the team for 17 years and is their Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Ventrelle worked closely with Badain.
Badain led the Raiders’ move to Las Vegas from Oakland and played a major role in the construction of the Allegiant Stadium. He has been the main voice of the team this year as the Raiders prepare to perform in front of fans for the first time in Las Vegas.
Badain started out as a training camp pilot with the Raiders and rose through the ranks in the organization. He became president in 2015 after serving on an interim basis following the resignation of Amy Trask in 2013. Prior to that, he was the club’s CFO and Trask’s assistant.
While this is an unexpected development, it shouldn’t affect the football side of the team in any way. Badain’s role was strictly on the business side of the organization.
