“Get to work, make the moves, ready to play.”
If you listen to radio broadcasts you’ve probably heard it billions of times in an advertisement for one auto company or another, I can’t remember which one. (Datsun? Saturn? Yugo? One of those, I think.) But, I’m going to tell you this, the Tigers’ bats came to life in a good old lopsided victory, ready to play indeed. Victor Reyes had four hits. VICTOR REYES. Roll this in your head for a while. It was that kind of night.
Let’s sum it up, will you?
Tiger pitching
Casey Mize has started and his sleeves are limited these days, which is why he’s only done four. But, it was a very good race: a sure stroke, no walk. Only two strikeouts, but hey, it’s okay.
Goalless innings followed from Joe Jimenez (with three strikeouts), Daniel Norris, Buck Farmer (again, a trio of puffs) and even Ian Krol, who had four different throws, threw two.
Tiger striking
Again, Victor Reyes had four hits, all in singles. There weren’t many extra base hits, although Akil Baddoo had a two-run homerun.
There were also a few doubles, with Isaac Paredes getting his first of the year.
All in all, it was a pretty relentless attack. Take the sixth round of seven points: the first Ten hitters hit base with a mix of singles and walks. Everyone just moved the line, you know? This seems to be an interesting feature of Tiger queues lately.
The Rangers
Texas starter Kyle Gibson allowed just two runs in four innings (Baddoo’s home run), but lost the fifth despite dropping four runs in the frame. He stayed for the first two hitters of the sixth (walking one and dropping just one), and then he fell down the stairs for them, with those sound effects you’d hear in old Looney Tunes cartoons.
The Rangers had four hits and made two mistakes. To their credit, Joey Gallo did throw two runners on the bases, including Jeimer Candelario at home. Maybe stop running at him?
Welcome to the show
The Tigers put C Jake Rogers on the 10-day injured list with right arm pain.
C Grayson Greiner has been recalled from Triple A Toledo.

Another milestone
Miggy makes more history!
He now has 2,930 career hits, linking him to Jake Beckley and Rogers Hornsby for No. 38 in MLB history.
And his double is his 405th as a Tiger, tying him to Sam Crawford for the 7th in franchise history. pic.twitter.com/eiBOsysAX2

In conclusion
The Tigers have won four in a row coming out of the break. Timely strikes, great pitching and solid defense. And that ?
Update
AJ Hinch said Jake Rogers is expected to miss “a few weeks” with overpronator strain, a common injury for receivers. Looks like the Tigers were relieved it wasn’t worse.
Isaac Paredes suffers from hip pain daily.
