Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt praises her “amazing husband” Chris Pratt as she shares the key to their relationship.
During a conversation on Dear Media’s Meaning full life podcast with co-hosts Hayley Hubbard and Jessica Diamond, Schwarzenegger Pratt, 31, spoke about the new motherhood and marriage to the Jurassic World actor, 42 years old. She recalled attending a premarital consultation before their June 2019 nuptials and how it helped lay the foundation for their marriage.
“Before we get married in the Catholic Church, you have to do pre-marital counseling before you get married, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, how is it going to be? “And that was the most amazing thing and the most amazing gift,” she said. “I know not everyone does it. [it], sure, because … if they don’t tell you you have to, why would you? “
“But for us,” she continued, “when we had this experience of going for a premarital consultation to get married in the Catholic Church, it was such an amazing gift in our relationship before we got married that we definitely wanted to continue throughout our relationship and was such a helpful thing to be able to have in our relationship to have that focus. “
“Talking about things that we might not necessarily have talked about before we got married, talking about things that 10 or 15 year old couples still don’t like to talk about with each other. Being prompted to talk about these things is also a really useful thing to do early on, “added Schwarzenegger Pratt.” I think that helps us.
The couple now share their daughter Lyla Maria, who turns 1 next month. (Pratt also shares his 8-and-a-half-year-old son Jack with his ex-wife Anna Faris, whom he separated in August 2017.)

Also in the podcast interview, Schwarzenegger Pratt explained why it is important for her and Pratt to “set aside” time.
“Making sure you can spare that time for yourself. And of course there are days when that doesn’t happen, and then we make sure to connect in a different way,” she said. “I also just remember growing up and looking at my parents [Arnold Schwarzenegger and ex-wife Maria Shriver] always being each other’s biggest support system and the biggest cheerleaders, and it was always something I wanted that I imagined someone I would marry; always wanting to have that same support system and that same dynamic. “
“I want him to be, to always feel loved, cared for and supported and like I’m his greatest cheerleader. And to feel it from him too,” a- she added. “We’re always on the same page in wanting this for each other. And always putting our relationship and our family first is very important to us.”
During their time of reflection together – whether it’s 15 minutes or most of their day – Schwarzenegger Pratt says they “check in” with each other and talk about their faith and goals.

“It was also like going for a walk, it was something we did every day when I was pregnant and it was a really good time for him and I to connect while being able to go out as well, which during the pandemic was significant, “she recalls. “It’s really important to take the time to go online and register and always take that time. Even with the baby, it’s still a priority for both of us.”
Friendship and communication aside, Schwarzenegger Pratt says faith is a “big part” of his relationship with Pratt and the “foundation of our relationship.” She said she felt “lucky all the time” to count it as her “really good support system”.
While chatting recently with Entertainment tonight at the Los Angeles premiere of his latest film The war of tomorrow, Pratt also gave some of his relationship advice on keeping a marriage strong.
“Communicate. Listen, listen to your partner with intention. Pay attention to each other’s feelings and support each other and just listen,” he said at the time.
