Lawyer Norman Effman has confirmed to CNN that Weinstein is now in Los Angeles County custody and his attorneys anticipate he will be brought to justice on Wednesday.
Weinstein, the disgraced former film producer, faces a total of 11 sexual assault counts in Los Angeles County involving five women.
Last month, a New York judge approved extradition to Los Angeles County so the jailed former film producer could face new charges of sexual assault.
The counts in Los Angeles County include four counts of forced rape, four counts of forced oral copulation, two counts of coercive sexual assault and one count of forcible sexual penetration. The alleged assaults took place between 2004 and 2013.
He denied the allegations, according to his spokesman Judah Engelmayer.
“Harvey Weinstein has always maintained that each of his physical encounters throughout his life was consensual. That hasn’t changed,” Engelmayer said.
The revelations led a wave of women to speak publicly about the pervasiveness of sexual abuse and harassment in what is known as the #MeToo movement.
