McCain was referring to a story that emerged about Amazon employees having to use bottles for relief.

“We have to do these routes before dark and having to find a toilet would mean driving another 10 minutes out of the way to find one,” an anonymous Amazon employee told Vice. Another worker told Vice there is an incentive to cut costs and be faster because the most productive drivers have more hours.

The company denied the claims until it posted an apology on its blog to US Representative Mark Pocan, who initially called Amazon for presenting a “progressive front” while its employees worked demanding schedules.

The blog post indicated that its driver population may have difficulty getting to the toilet due to rural roads or public toilets closed due to COVID-19. Despite this, the company acknowledged that inadequate bathroom breaks were a problem for their drivers, and also pointed out that Amazon’s drivers are not the only ones and that the problem is a “long-standing problem at industry scale “.

Amazon maintains that distribution center workers have plenty of washrooms and can leave their workstations when needed.

McCain stayed on the topic later Tuesday, commenting on Bezos’ post-odyssey fashion.

Bezos, after his 11-minute flight to the edge of space, said he was giving $ 100 million each to CNN political contributor Van Jones and chef Jose Andres.

“They can donate everything to their own charity or they can share their wealth. It all depends on them, ”Bezos said.

“Sometimes dreams come true,” Jones said. “Headlines around the world should be, anything is possible if you believe it.”

Andres said: “This award by itself cannot feed the world on its own, but it is the start of a new chapter for us.”
