Player Steve builds a Twitch chat meme with blocks before finishing off his opponent in the Super Smash Bros. offline tournament. Ultimate

Due to the character options, Steve is a character that gives players a lot of creativity with what they can do in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. We recently saw this happen at a tournament featuring RVNT |Rockmanis Steve (Alex).

While he already had a considerable lead over the opposing Toon Link player, Rockman managed to push his opponent off the stage with a surprise minecart. As Rockman chose not to go for an offstage edge guard, it gave him some free time.

It suddenly appeared that Rockman was building a wall with his gathered resources. However, this wall would eventually turn into an “F”.

More than likely, this “F” was meant to pay homage to the Internet “F in chat” meme. This meme originally came from a Call of Duty game where players had to type “F” (or press “X”) to pay tribute to fallen virtual soldiers. The idea is that you pay homage to someone’s death (usually during the game).

By building that “F” structure, Rockman was essentially paying homage to his opponent who was too far behind to make a comeback. As soon as Toon Link returned to the stage, he encountered the forward smash from Steve, who was sure to kill Toon Link at 123% damage.

Needless to say, the commentators and the whole room erupted upon seeing this. Check it out below:
