Cyberpunk 2077 players will be taking every crumb of the news they can, given the scarcity of plans for the game that are released, and that’s what we have to work with today.
Responding to a now deleted tweet asking when patch 1.3 was coming, Global Community Manager at CDPR, Marcin Momot, replied that he was “on the way”.
It also drew an eye emoji from CDPR lead designer Miles Tost.
So what does this tell us? More than you might think.
This implies that the next upcoming patch won’t be minor, because 1.23 was the last one, so it won’t be 1.25 or 1.28 or something like that, it’s a full 1.3, with 1.1 and 1.2 previously being major patches before. it.
It’s not clear if 1.3 will arrive with the launch of the promised free DLC slated for release by the end of the year, but it could very well lay the groundwork for it. Datamining has uncovered both a list of supposed DLC names and a few backend paths that indicate that this content is being tested. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see 1.3 be the launch of this content, which contains some new gigs, new weapons, clothes, cars, poses, and a few unknown items.
Some fans worry that 1.3 is just what 1.2 and 1.1 were, big fixes, but the ones that were almost entirely focused on hyper-specific quest bugs and performance issues, without actually affecting the game’s quality of life. or add content, so we’ll have to see. Paweł Sasko from CDPR recently said it’s the bosses decision not to really preview the patch content or the DLC in advance.
CDPR said game stability is in an acceptable state at this point, and they are moving from repairing the game to creating new content, so 1.3 could be the first step in that direction. For me personally, I’ve been playing one of my old PC games for the last few days, and yesterday the game crashed so hard that I couldn’t restart it at all, and it required uninstalling complete, a new download and reinstallation. Not great.
The free DLC may be a reason for players to keep coming back, but expectations need to be managed, as this is the free DLC for Witcher 3 at best. It’s going to be a small handful of missions and a bunch of cosmetics mainly, although one thing it’s supposed to bring is New Game Plus, which I guess is over 50 extra hours of gameplay if you want to do it all over again.
I’ll definitely be checking out version 1.3 and the free DLC when they arrive, but I’m not sure if they are separate or if they come in one update. More to come soon, it seems.
