Yesterday, the Chromebook that I had been eagerly awaiting for months finally arrived in the ASUS online store. At that time, the ASUS Chromebook CX9, with its gorgeous design and feature-packed spec sheet, was listed as “coming soon”, which led me to believe it would be available in the coming weeks. Well, I far exceeded my expectations for a launch date. As of this morning, the Chromebook CX9 is currently available for pre-order with a shipping date of July 22. It’s tomorrow for those of you who don’t keep track of such things.
Much to my dismay, it looks like the monster Core i7 version with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of NVMe storage is already sold out despite not technically shipping until tomorrow. I guess the many corporate clients that ASUS owns must have picked them up as soon as the pre-orders go live. That said, the Core i3, 8GB / 128GB model is still on pre-order and this version is likely to be the most desirable for the average consumer. It lacks a touchscreen, but you still get the same tantalizing goodness that comes with the beefier model and the Core i3 Tiger Lake processor has already proven to be more than substantial enough for even the most demanding users.

The entry-level Core i3 model retails for a very reasonable price of $ 749.99 and it will make you one of the most powerful Chromebooks around. Let’s not forget that this Chromebook offers a segment first with its integrated numeric keypad directly integrated into the touchpad. It cradles a 400 nit FullHD display, Thunderbolt 4 ports, a fingerprint sensor, and enough power to handle Linux and Android apps without breaking a sweat. At $ 750, this Chromebook offers a whole bunch of bells and whistles. As Robby pointed out this morning, ASUS appears to have finally priced the company’s Chromebook with specs that match the price tag.
