EA Play’s media presentation has come and gone, and the publisher has given fans updates on franchises like Grid, Battlefield, and Dead Space. But what about the other games that we know came from developer BioWare? And more specifically, what about Dragon Age 4?

Well, developer BioWare made it clear earlier this month that it will not have any games on EA Play. The company explained this in a tweet.

“We are working hard to create the next [Dragon Age] and [Mass Effect] games and have some exciting stuff coming up in Star Wars: The Old Republic, ”the social media post read.

But what does this actually mean for Dragon Age 4? Well, not much. Sources familiar with the fantasy role-playing adventure confirm that the game is on track for a 2023 release. When I contacted EA about the release date, a spokesperson said the company had not announced the date and had no intention of sharing it yet. .

Holding back during this EA Play is simply allowing the publisher to put the game in position to start marketing it in earnest. It will likely start in 2022.

And what should we expect from the game itself? Well, don’t be alarmed if EA tries to bring the online, connected, online service model to Dragon Age. BioWare builds the next Dragon Age as a single-player narrative adventure, much like previous entries in the series. Of course, that doesn’t mean the games wouldn’t have online multiplayer. This was one of the main features of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

BioWare first announced Dragon Age 4 in 2018. At that time, I had reported that the game was at least three years away. If it’s out now by 2023, it’ll be five years since it was revealed.
