Black Ops Cold War Zombies player sets absurd lap record at Mauer Der Toten

A Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fan breaks the Mauer Der Toten world record by nearly 200 rounds, and their run is still not over.

The high round community of Call of Duty Zombies have always been passionate, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is no different. However, Insomnia Virus is proving to be the most dedicated high-level player in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

For those unfamiliar with the streamer’s previous antics, he was the same player who made it to world level 1000 in Outbreak. The process took several days of streaming, luckily too, as a crash or power outage could ruin the race. Luckily nothing happened to spoil things, and an incredible record has been set for Zombies open world mode. However, it seems that a single record was not enough for Insomnia Virus, as the player is now aiming for Mauer Der Toten.

What makes this world record so impressive is that Mauer Der Toten was released just over a week ago. As such, the player has been working on this world record stream from the second the card debuted, broadcasting every day to progress. Instead of needing weeks of training, the top expert jumped straight to the map and started setting the record. While the previous high round of the card was listed at 474 rounds on tracking websites, it was crushed by the insomnia virus.

The player’s world record currently stopped them at 669 laps, which is a difference of almost 200 laps between second and first place. If that wasn’t enough, Insomnia Virus has confirmed that they will continue until they hit around 700. With the next stream scheduled for tomorrow, Call of Duty Zombie fans can witness the story if they wish. As if the player’s run wasn’t spectacular enough, they also train instead of camping to achieve it.

With Mauer Der Toten’s overkill roundabout already nerfed, camping in room 305 is no longer an option. However, this is not a problem for Insomnia Virus, as the player has mastered the art of training the living dead. The stream saw them fending off the zombies in the feeding room, a solid location due to the open space and nearby ammo crate. The armor is available just outside the room, allowing the player to restock when they need it. As for the strategy, the player uses the Ring of Fire field upgrade as they are constantly buying war machines, which allows them to quickly detonate large groups.

With the CRBR-S magic weapon in use in the meantime, the living dead are no match for the insomnia virus. With the player having done so well so far, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where he wouldn’t hit his goal of 700 rounds.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
