EA Motive’s upcoming remake of the original Dead space will not incorporate an incredibly controversial feature that has been seen in Dead space 3. Specifically, the aspect that won’t make a comeback is microtransactions, which has prevailed in many titles released by EA over the years. Overall, microtransactions were frowned upon by those who played Dead space 3 because they felt forced into the game in a very abnormal way.
News regarding the lack of real money purchases in the new Dead space the track was confirmed by EA Motive lead producer Phil Ducharme. In a conversation with IGN, Ducharme said that Motive seeks to remove certain qualities that were not appreciated by the Dead Space community in the original trilogy. “We are looking at what can be taken and fed back into the first game from a future perspective. We also learn from mistakes like microtransactions, which we won’t have, for example, in our game,” Ducharme said. .
Going further, Ducharme also pointed out that microtransactions are something that Dead space should never be added even after launch. Often, some publishers publish titles without paid transactions initially, only to add them later in subsequent updates. According to Ducharme, this is something that will not happen with Dead space for the whole experience is created with the intention of never seeing them happen.
All in all, this is something that will surely appeal to quite a few fans. As previously mentioned, Electronic Arts had gained a somewhat negative reputation in recent years for forcing microtransactions into several of its games. Following the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, however, the company seems to have realized that it can still generate quite a bit of revenue by creating well-designed single-player experiences that don’t rely on paid in-game purchases.
At the moment, very little is known about the launch of Dead space. The game does not have a release window, but it will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC platforms in the future.
What do you think of this confirmation that Dead space will not have microtransactions? Does it make you even more excited for the game? Let me know either in the comments or on Twitter at @ Mooreman12.
