California restaurant says it will only serve unvaccinated customers

Not vaccinated? That’s not a problem for at least one California restaurant.

Basilico’s in Huntington Beach, Orange County, has taken a stand against coronavirus vaccination policies, calling them “betrayal, anti-American stupidity,” in a sign posted outside the company.

Earlier this week, Basilico posted on Instagram what he called a “statement and challenge.”

“By challenging other business owners to fight with us and fight like us! Said the post.

The pledge calls on restaurants to challenge any new lockdowns that may be ordered by government officials and encourages restaurants who agree with the stand to display an American flag and a “Don’t tread on me” flag, reported the New York Daily News.

In California, such lockdowns – which cost businesses millions – helped spark the movement that led to a recall effort against Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Basilico’s has also declared itself a “mask-free zone” and requires customers to remove their face coverings before entering, according to the Los Angeles Times.

An employee told The Times the restaurant isn’t actually checking anyone’s vaccination status, they just wanted to promote a program of non-compliance regarding government coronavirus rules.

Restaurant owner Tony Roman told The Times in an email that he considers such policies to be harmful – even though many government and health officials suggest getting the vaccine and following official guidelines can help stop the spread of the coronavirus.

“With warning signs of another impending lockdown, and many business owners once again emboldening those I call ‘the tiny tyrants of the lockdown” – this time by forcing proof of vaccination policies – we have chose to fire another missile to challenge our point of view in the defense of American liberty and liberty, ”Roman wrote to the newspaper.

Last September, Basilico’s drew attention to a “Godfather” sign posted outside the restaurant saying “Leave the mask, take the cannoli”.
