The term “sugar daddy” came into effect in the lexicon in 2015 when a massive data breach revealed a list of clients on the Ashley Madison dating app. Now we hear about it again via the latest Google Play Store policy update, like Android Police reported. Under new restrictions on sexual content, it bans what it calls “paid sex (ie dating with sugar)”, effective September 1, 2021.
If you didn’t know, a “daddy daddy” is someone (usually a wealthy, older man) who is willing to spend money in exchange for sexual favors. A quick scan shows that there are many Sugar Daddy style apps on Play, including a number that are literally called “Sugar Daddy”. Others have names like Elite millionaire singles, Seeking Arrangement and Spoil.
Spoil states it quite clearly, like Phone Arena Remarks. “Here, you can find other high sugar dads who are looking for a low-key arrangement, and you can also meet other attractive girls who are looking for generous men,” the description reads. Presumably, this app and all the others will be removed by September 1, although like any other Android app, they’re still available through sideloading.
