Solar Ash, the stunning sci-fi action-adventure from developer Hyper Light Drifter Heart Machine finally has a release date and will head to PlayStation and PC on October 26.

Announced in 2019 under the working title Solar Ash Kingdom, Heart Machine’s latest adventure takes players to a “surreal, vivid, highly stylized world filled with mystery, wild high-speed crossings, endearing characters, and massive encounters with enemies “as they, as Voidrunner Rei, attempt to save their home planet from Ultravoid – a massive black hole that engulfs entire worlds.

In more practical terms, Solar Ash (which swaps the intricate top-to-bottom pixel art of Hyper Light Drifter for a fully 3D world) is a third-person action platformer focused on “fluidity of movement” . Players are able to quickly jump, slide, crush, and fight huge distances as they explore submerged cities, vast bodies of water and dangerous lava areas, battling increasingly formidable enemies along the way .

“As you progress you will come across larger, more twisted creatures, hinting at the more insidious nature of this cosmos maw,” Heart Machine explained in February. “These encounters will only intensify and intensify as you explore, which will require better timing and fine platforming skills.”
