Royal Caribbean says six passengers on its Adventure of the Seas cruise ship have tested positive for COVID-19 in routine testing.
Four of the passengers were vaccinated and were traveling separately. The other two were unvaccinated minors from the same group.
The guests were immediately quarantined and their trips and all close contacts were traced and tested negative, the company said.
The Adventure of the Seas was six days in a seven-night trip from Nassau, Bahamas, to CocoCay, the company’s private island, Grand Bahama Island, and Cozumel, Mexico, when passengers tested positive on Thursday.
The Adventure of the Seas became the first of Royal Caribbean’s ships to resume sailing in the Western Hemisphere when it set sail for its first scheduled cruise on June 12. The ship’s summer itineraries were to include around 1,000 passengers, and all crew members and guests aged 16 or older must be fully immunized.
At the end of June, two children tested positive on Adventure of the Seas.
Shares of Royal Caribbean Cruises were down nearly 4% on the day.
