American wrestler Tamyra Mensah-Stock was asked a simple question by a reporter after winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics in the 68kg final against Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu. “How does it feel to represent your country like this,” Mensah-Stock was asked.

“I love representing the United States, I love living there,” said the Olympic gold medalist before clenching her fist, smiling and tightening the stars and stripes on her body.

Mensah-Stock, who started wrestling in 10th grade in Katy, Texas after being pushed by her sister, said she didn’t have role models early in her career, but had always his sister to fall back on.

“When I first started wrestling I wanted to be an emblem, a light for young women and show them that you can be dumb, you can have fun and you can be strong,” Mensah-Stock told USA Today. “You can be tough, you can be a wrestler and you don’t have to be like that”, – growl – “I’m going to be mean to you.”

Mensah-Stock, a stranger to Mainstreet USA before today’s interview after winning gold, is by far the friendliest athlete to come out of the Games. Her smile, love of the country and positive nature caught the attention of citizens who were beaten in the head by warriors of social justice who yearned for the fun of the Games.

When asked what she planned to do with the money she would earn by winning a gold medal, Mensah-Stock knew exactly what she would do with the money.

“I wanted to give my mom $ 30,000 so she could buy a food truck because that’s her dream,” she said. “And I said to her five years ago, ‘Okay mom, I’ll get you your food truck, but you have to be responsible.

“So my mom is going to get her food truck! She’s going to have her little kitchen business. She can cook really, really, really well. Barbecue!”

There you go, the best story of Tokyo. Now let’s see if the athletes who hate this country agree.
