Xiaomi could launch Mi Mix 4, new tablets next week

Xiaomi has set a date for its next big event to be broadcast live and, surprise, surprise! Event unpacked on August 11.

Is this a secret ploy to steal some of the fame and glory from Samsung? Although the two companies barely compete at the same level, next Tuesday August 10 should be quite an important event for Xiaomi as it marks the tenth anniversary of the existence of the Chinese electronics company.

In addition to marking a decade of growth for the mid-range electronics company, this event was also officially confirmed to include the launch of Xiaomi’s new Mi Pad tablet series, as well as the Mi Mix 4 next week, according to an official announcement on Weibo from the company’s account.
Android Authority first took notice of the first social media post, which simply announces an event that will take place on August 10 at 7:30 p.m. CST (7:30 p.m. ET). Weibo’s original post claims the event will cover recent Xiaomi “good news” as well as the “10 toughest choices” from company founder Lei Jun, which he had to make in the past 10. years of the life of the company.
Weibo tipster Bald Panda immediately predicted the link between the event and the launch of the Mi Pad 5 series and the Mi Mix 4, and Xiaomi officially confirmed it this morning (August 4):

It makes sense that these two most anticipated devices from Xiaomi’s lines emerge during the company’s momentous tenth anniversary event, which also takes place around the same time as the Mi Mix 3 was launched two years ago. We know that phone and tablet flagships have long been simmering in the pot and awaiting decent debuts, after their successful recognition in various certification agencies over the past few months.

Mi Mix 4

We’ve even already leaked details about the hefty Mi Mix 4 series, which suggests the next two smartphone models will have up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. There likely won’t be an SD card slot, although the lineup is expected to support dual SIM cards in China, as well as support for the 5G network, thanks to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processing chip.

The Mi Mix 4 is also said to feature an all-screen design, as well as a selfie camera under the panel. The battery could reach 4,500mAh and support 120W fast charging with a wireless option.

Mi Pad 5

While there is not yet much public information about the latest family in Xiaomi’s Mi tablet line, we do know of a prototype leaked that the Mi Pad 5 will have four speakers, stylus support with wireless charging, and possible keyboard support, similar to Apple’s iPad design.

The camera of the future flagship tablet appears to be designed similarly to that of the Mi 11, and it will charge via a USB-C port.

All three alleged upcoming variants of the Mi Pad 5 are rumored to feature impressive 120Hz displays, with the added possibility of 2K resolution across the series.
