Frontier Airlines said on Friday it would require employees to be vaccinated against Covid-19 or provide proof of negative tests on a regular basis.

The low-cost carrier’s announcement came hours after United Airlines said all of its 67,000 U.S. employees were required to show proof of vaccination by October 25, becoming the country’s first major carrier and one of the largest companies to take this step.

“As we continue to observe the rapid increase in new cases of COVID-19 across the United States caused by the Delta variant, I am concerned for the well-being of our team members, their families and friends.” , said Frontier CEO Barry Biffle. A press release.

Frontier said the majority of the airline’s employees have already been vaccinated.

The Denver-based airline blamed the delta variant on a drop in bookings over the past week, prompting it to lower its forecast for the third quarter.
